Hi everyone! Long time, no see! I hope that everyone had a wonderful holiday! I took a little time off from blogging this week to bake, spend time with family, and read. It was fantastic! I'm back today with The Bright Lights Big City Collection from FingerPaints. This collection is limited edition and will be available from Sally Beauty Supply starting January 1 and should be around until the end of February. This collection contains 6 new shades including 2 glitter toppers, one jelly microglitter, and 3 glassfleck duochromes.
In the City Lookin' Pretty is a clear-based glitter topper full of silver holo hexes and smaller light pink hexes. Formula was nice and the glitter spread pretty evenly with a good glitter load. This is 1 coat over OPI My Very First Knockwurst. I really ended up enjoying this glitter because it has a very soft and elegant look.
What a Night is a pink/copper/gold multichrome. This polish has a metallic glassfleck finish, so it is very shiny. Formula was nice and built up easily to opacity in 3 thin coats. I love to see mainstream brands incorporate multichromes in their lines and this one has a really nice color shift.
Paint the Town Purple is a light purple glassfleck shimmer with added shifting pink/gold and blue/purple flecked shimmer. This one started out really sheer but actually built up nicely in three coats. Because of the light colored base, the duochrome color shift in this one is pretty subtle, but it definitely adds a great sparkle to the polish. This polish is pretty, but I just didn't care for it on my skintone for some reason. The shimmer is super nice though!
Dance Floor Diva has a super sheer purple jelly base filled with lavender, pink, blue, silver, and black glitter. I thought it was too sheer to build up on it's own without lots of glitter build-up, so I chose to layer 2 coats over a complementary purple creme base, China Glaze All Aboard. The glitters spread pretty easily, with some dabbing of the larger glitters. I thought this was a strange color combo and not necessarily my favorite, but it was pretty cool layered over the creme base (I did not care for it on its own based on my nail wheel testing).
Hey Mr. DJ! is a black jelly with silver, red, and blue microglitter. Formula was really nice on this one and it built up easily in 2 coats. I thought the color combo of this one was really funky and cool. It was easily one of my favorites from the collection.
Urban Lights is a purple/blue duochrome glassfleck in a black jelly base. The formula on this one is excellent with full coverage in 2 easy coats. The blue to purple shift is more subtle on the nail than in the bottle (you can see it well in the bottle pics below) but it is still a very nice shift. This is such a great polish and I feel like it is a nice quirky staple polish that would go well in everyone's collection.
The FingerPaints Bright Lights Big City Collection is exclusively available from Sally Beauty Supply and should be available in stores and online January 1. Thanks for looking everyone!
