Falling Into Fall: Flakies!

Hi everyone! I've got another "Falling Into Fall" post to share with you today, and instead of it being a specific brand or collection, this time it's a specific finish that I wanted to share! I love flakies, and I especially love to layer them over dark colors in the fall. The colors show up so vibrantly against dark base colors and make me think of fall leaves. Here are the two manis I have for you today where actually lived up to my ole blog name and did some layering!

Indigo Bananas Earth, Wind, and Fire is a holographic topper that is filled with multicolored iridescent flakies. Formula was very easy to work with and had a great effect at 1 coat over a base color (I used Pretty Serious The Crimson Pearl as my base). This polish is just GLORIOUS! There is so much going on and layering it over the dark base color just makes all of the colors pop out. This is definitely a unique flakie polish in that the flakies are unique...not quite like others that I have seen. Andrea always finds the coolest bits to make polishes with! Earth, Wind, and Fire is part of Indigo Bananas recent Neon, the 10th Element release, and is still available in the Indigo Bananas shop.

Takko Lacquer Dark Paradise has a deep blue jelly base with multicolored iridescent flakies (mostly red, green, and blue). The jelly base seemed pretty sheer to me, so I decided to layer it to really make the flakies pop more (I used 1 coat over Darling Diva Polish Queen of the Night). I've seen other manis where people have worn it on its own and it builds up to opacity, but I really think I prefer it this way. Since these are more classic iridescent flakies, I couldn't resist the urge to matte this mani, and I loved it even more matte. Dark Paradise was Takko Llarowe Exclusive, so I'm not sure if it will be available anymore since Llarowe is no longer a stockist, but Takko's regular line can be purchased in their shop.

HPB Presents: Neons

Hi everyone! Today I'm participating in the August Hobby Polish Bloggers Link-Up and the theme this month is neons. I picked up a few of Indigo Bananas Neon, the 10th Element polishes a little while ago, and I've been itching to try them in a water marble, so that's what I've got for you today.

For my mani, I used Indigo Bananas The Uranium Evil (neon yellow), Rubidium Rhod (neon red), and Diva Plumbum (neon teal) for the marble on my middle two fingers (over a white base) and then came back and added some dots with the red and teal. Then I used The Uranium Evil on my other nails. The neons spread well and marbled nicely. This was such a fun look and the colors make me think of sno-cones, so I think that's a good way to end the summer! I guess my topcoat ended up bubbling (It's in need of some thinner) and I didn't even notice it in real life, but you can definitely tell in the pictures. Ah well, such is life.

Indigo Bananas Spring 2015 Picks

Hi everyone! Today I have a selection of polishes from Indigo Bananas Spring 2015 Collection. This collection consists of 5 pastel cremes full of glassflecks and holo bits and I have 3 of them to show you today. These types of polishes are what orginally made me fall in love with Indigo Bananas (Electric Unicorns is still one of my favorites ever!), so I was very excited to see this collection. Believe it or not, I have actually worn all of these previously and taken terrible pictures of them that didn't show their shimmer at all. Now I've RETAKEN pictures of them in different lighting situations and I still feel like I have totally failed at showing their complexity, but just trust me when I say that they are so gorgeous in person.

Saffron Revolution is a light peachy coral with blue and blue/lavender glass fleck shimmer with scattered holo bits. The flashes of blue/violet were hard to capture in photos, but you can see them in real life when you move your fingers around in the light. The formula of these three is pretty much consistent across the board. These polishes are packed with glassflecks which gives them a nice thickness which prevents them from running and pooling when you polish (which is NOT what you want with glassflecks since they will stick to your skin/cuticles during clean-up) so that is a GREAT thing. They are very easy to work with and go on nicely and smoothly at 3 thin coats. This one leaned really peachy on me since I have a pinker skintone, but I could see the pinker undertones of it coming out more in a neutral/warm skintone. This is a more delicate coral than most in my collection (most of mine are screaming bright!) so it's certainly unique to me and a lovely addition!

Land of Green Ginger is a light mint green with gold/green glass fleck shimmer with scattered holo bits. I would say it t Formula was pretty much identical to Saffron Revolution and reached opacity in 3 thin coats. As with pretty much all minty greens, this really brought out the redness of my skin in pictures and gave me a bit of lobster hands (but it didn't do this in real life). I'm a sucker for mints and mints + gold just can't be beat in my book. The shimmer was the easiest to capture in this one, and it is beautiful!

Jacaranda is a pale lavender with red and pink/gold glass fleck shimmer with scattered holo bits. Formula was just like the other two with full opacity in 3 thin coats. This polish required a ton of color editing to even get it in the ball park (it really wanted to photograph BLUE instead of lavender). It's definitely a cool-toned lavender, but the pink flecks in it make it look a bit warmer in some lights. Trust me when I say, YOU NEED THIS POLISH. This was my favorite of the three that I tried and is now among my favorite Indigo Bananas polishes (right up there with Electric Unicorns). It's so soft and delicate and the pink glassflecks are just divine.

Indigo Bananas Mega Chrome Flakie Holos

Hi everyone! Today I have some amazingly gorgeous polishes that were recently released from Indigo Bananas. They released a whole line of Mega Chrome Flakies at the start of the multichrome flakie craze and now there are holographic versions of those. Hi everyone! Today I have 3 beautiful polishes to share with you from Indigo Bananas! I have fallen in love creator Andrea's beautiful creations, and I hope that you like the ones I have to show you today!

Storm Drops is a pale blue crelly with grey and white flakies and fine green shimmer. Formula was great with this polish and it builds up nicely at 3 thin coats. The shimmer is more apparent in certain lights (you can see it better in the macro shot). This is definitely the soft and delicate beauty in the Summer Rains Collection.

Indigo Bananas Summer Rains Collection

Hi everyone! Today I have more swatches from Indigo Bananas' Summer Rains Collection. I've previously shared two awesome polishes from this collection, Molten Universe and Rainbow in the Dark. I am a flakie, holo, and color-shifting shimmer lover and this collection combines all of those things. I can honestly say this is one of my favorite indie collections from this year! I included pictures of all of them in the collage so that you could see all of the pretties together! The only one I'm missing from the collection is Storm Drops (and you can see a gorgeous swatch of it over on Ida Nails It!).

Countdown to Extinction has a green jelly base with green/gold and red/green flakies as well as holo. This one was the most holo of all of the polishes with holo finishes in the collection. Formula was nice and was good at 3 thin coats. I'm obsessed with green, so this was one of my favorites!

Reign is a garnet red jelly that leans slightly purple. It is filled with red/green color shifting flakes and shimmer. Formula was good and I used 3 thin coats for this mani. For some reason (I guess the jelly-ness) in pictures this one looked like it was thinner closer to my cuticles, but it didn't look like that at all in real life. Such a strange thing! This reminded me of an amped up version of Barielle Elle's Spell.

Acid Ocean is a deep inky blue jelly with aqua/green/blue color shifting flakes and bronze/green color shifting shimmer. This combination gives the polish an overall teal look instead of blue. Great jelly formula and perfect at 3 thin coats. Such a gorgeous, murky polish (and the name fits perfectly!).

Hole in the Sky is a blue-leaning violet jelly filled with red/green color shifting shimmer and flakes as well as holo.  If I had to pick a favorite, this would be it because it literally has everything I love all rolled up into one polish. I feel like some pictures make it look lighter than it is, so I tried to adjust them to compensate. Formula was great and I used 3 thin coats for this mani. This entire collection is seriously winning, but if you get only one...get this one!

Hi everyone! Today I have another beautiful polish from Indigo Bananas' Summer Rains Collection. Rainbow in the Dark is a black jelly with rainbow flakies and scattered holo effect. The rainbow flakes really pop against the dark base and the holo just adds a lot of wonderful depth to the polish. Formula was great and I used 3 thin coats for this mani. If you are a flakie lover, they really have a starring role in this polish so I would recommend adding it to your wishlist!

Indigo Bananas 2% Butterscotch Ripple over Zoya Blaze

Hi everyone! Today I have a layering combination for you that might seem a little more appropriate for fall than June, but I was just in the mood for something like this so it happened. :)

For this mani, I used Indigo Bananas 2% Butterscotch Ripple (2 coats) over Zoya Blaze. 2% Butterscotch Ripple has a sheer plum jelly base and could be built up on its own in 3-4 coats, but I wanted to see how it looked over the vampy red of blaze. It is filled with gold and green color shifting microglitters with a few other colors thrown in for interest including some scattered holo glitters. It's so very pretty and has so much depth.

Zoya Blaze is a cranberry red scattered holographic polish. If you have been reading my blog for long, you will know that scattered holos like this are one of my absolute favorite finishes, and Zoya does them so well. This is two easy coats. Such a stunning polish.
