Purple Shimmer Wednesday?: NerdLacquer Gotterdammerung

Hi everyone! Yes...I'm behind this week. I was in a wedding this weekend and there were lots of out of town visitors so I haven't been able to do my Purple Shimmer Sunday post. Today I have a polish that I nabbed at the last NerdLacquer restock called Gotterdammerung, which is part of the Opera trio that was released at that time. It is has a purple/blue color shifting base with various purple glitters. To bring out the duochrome nature of the polish, I just used 1 coat of Gotterdammerung over Essie No More Film for this mani.

NerdLacquer Don't Panic

I think I have found my favorite Nerd! I was able to pick up Don't Panic along with a  few others at the most recent NerdLacquer restock and this one exceeded my expectations. It is a mixture of gold and green glitter with a golden shimmering base. I layered 2 coats over FingerPaints Silkscreen Green for this mani.

NerdLacquer Event Horizon

Today I have another NerdLacquer that I snagged from the first restock. Event Horizon is a teal jelly with various blue, teal,,and silver glitters as well as holographic glitters. It has amazing depth and the holographic glitter makes it look amazing in real life. This is 2 coats over Zoya Frida. The Zoya was probably unnecessary, but I prefer to layer glitters.

Nerd Lacquer Nebula

So I'm sure that most of you know that Nerd Lacquer is back on the scene again after a bit of a hiatus. I was so glad to be able to grab my two major lemmings from Amanda's first restock: Nebula and Event Horizon. Now as I've mentioned before, I don't love all of the finishes that Nerd Lacquer specializes in (the really shimmer heavy, glitter filled bases just aren't for me) but the polishes with jelly bases are magical.

Nebula is a deep berry colored jelly with silver holographic and burgundy glitter as well as so blue shifting glitter. It is very dense and two coats was all that was required for full coverage. This polish has so much amazing depth which is hard to capture in photographs, but I gave it my best shot. Instant love from me...even better than I imagined!

She says she will be shipping orders to Ninja Polish and Harlow & Co. soon as well so that is awesome news for those of you out there wanting to get the exclusive polishes that they carry. A Few Nerds...

So back before the maker of NerdLacquer went AWOL, I did happen to purchase a few of her polishes. Now I will be completely honest...I didn't love them. Back then, I was still new to the nail polish community and chunky glitter polishes and I really didn't know how to apply them and topcoat them properly for them to look their best. My attempts at wearing my Nerds was...very poor to say the least. I stashed them away and haven't thought much about them since. A few days ago I decided to pull them out and give them another go. My what a difference some layering and a topcoat makes. To me...they look better when one coat is applied over a complimentary base color. That might just be my preference, but I really like the way they look like this. Here is my meager NerdLacquer collection for your enjoyment.

I had thought about letting these go, but now I think I will hang onto them. They certainly are interesting and unique polishes in the indie world and I am sad that they are no longer being made.
