30 Day Challenge, Day 5: Primary Colors

Hi everyone! Today's 30 Day Challenge prompt was Primary Colors. I knew immediately what I wanted to do dotted tips on a white base for this challenge, however, I did not anticipate (for some unknown reason) that it was going to turn out looking like Wonderbread. So without further ado, I present to you the Wonderbread mani. :D I started out with a base of Sinful Colors GelShine Wisp, and the added dots of varying sizes at the tips. I used OPI Eurso Euro (blue), OPI I Just Can't Cope-acabana (yellow), and OPI Over & Over A-Gwen (red) for the dots.

Be sure to check out what everyone else is doing in the challenge! Thanks for looking everyone!

Valentine's Nails

Hi everyone! I have been a big failure at doing Valentine's manis this year so far besides a few pinks and reds. I decided to go all out with some nail art to (try to) make up for it!

I did some crazy skittles which all started with a base of OPI Sparrow Me the Drama (pink). For the water marbled nails, I used Sinful Colors Wisp (white), OPI Sparrow Me the Drama (pink), OPI Red Hot Ayers Rock (red), and OPI Funky Dunkey (purple). The glitter accents were L.A. Girl Sputtered from the Splatter collection. Finally for the hearts, I used water decals from Born Pretty Store. It was my first experience using water decals, and they are very idiot-proof I think. I used tweezers to place them (the three hearts were one decal) and it was easy to readjust them on the nail if needed. I went back with my dotting tool and added a few dots of the different colors for accents to pull the whole mani together.

I have heard some people haven't seen the L.A. Girl Splatter Collection around at their Rite Aids, but they are available at Cherry Culture for those of you who can't find them.

I'm really pleased with the water decals and I've ordered a few more from Born Pretty Store. I've always had great experiences with ordering from them at very reasonable prices. Also, you can't beat free worldwide shipping!

Thanks for looking everyone and have a Happy Valentine's Day!

Peppermint Grunge

Hi everyone! I feel like I have been ignoring all of my cremes lately and I do enjoy using them for nail art so much! I've been overwhelmed with new sparkly colors so the cremes get forgotten. I saw a recent Grunge/Distressed nail look that Dani from Dani's Manis posted and it inspired me to give this look a try. As she did, I followed the wonderful (and easy!) tutorial from Sarah at Chalkboard Nails. Seriously guys...nail art doesn't get much simpler than this. If you are wanting to try some nail art but are nervous about messing up, this is the nail art for you. It is impossible to mess up! One tip I have to add is if you feel like you have gone a little heavy in one spot or another with your black, just dip a small brush in acetone and then dab it on a paper towel. Then lightly go over the area you want to fix with that brush and it will take off a little color and create brushstrokes there that just add to the distressed look.

For this mani, I started off with a white base (Sinful Shine in Wisp ). I then painted on streaks of pink (OPI Sparrow Me the Drama), green (Orly Lucky Duck), and red (OPI Red Hot Ayers Rock). Be sure to wipe off your brush on the bottle very well in order to get the wispy distressed look. Finally I topped it of with streaks of black (American Apparel Hassid). It was so simple and very quick to do. I have dubbed this mani Peppermint Grunge because the colors look like Christmas peppermints (the green ones are the best BTW...definitely not the red ones!) but...ya know...edgier.

So what do you think about the distressed look? I can't wait to try it out with different colors! Thanks for looking everyone!

Sinful Hottie over China Glaze Ride the Waves

Hi everyone! So going from one end of the spectrum to the other, now instead of a hard to find blue glitter beauty I have one that you can find at pretty much every Walgreens, Rite Aide, and Wal-Mart. This is ANOTHER polish that I wore for my "Favorite Blues" (which I promise I am getting SO CLOSE to being finished with my swatches for) that I thought deserved a post all of its own. Sinful Hottie is actually a dupe of OPI Last Friday Night (a dead on dupe...there is really no need to own both of them in my opinion). It is a sheer blue jelly base filled with tiny disco glitters. It is really best used as a layering polish, so I used 2 coats over China Glaze Ride the Waves which actually made it look very close to bottle color. This is the best cheap nail polish thrill you can get! It was actually one of my favorite manicures that I've worn in ages.

Also, if you are a frankener, this polish is amazing to franken with! I have gone through at least a dozen bottles while frankening. What's your favorite drugstore cheap thrill? Thanks for looking!

4th of July Mani Featuring Oopsie Daisies 1776

Better late than never I guess? I have had issues with Photobucket this week so I've been a little behind on posting. But anyway, here is the mani I wore for the 4th.

Base and dot colors are Cult Nails Evil Queen (red), Sinful Gel Shine Wisp (white), and China Glaze First Mate. For the glitter accent nails I used Oopsie Daisies 1776, a lovely red, white, and blue glitter polish in a clear base. I used Nailz Craze plate 02 for the star designs and Bundle Monster plate 20 for the Stripes.

Oopsie Daisies polishes are available from creator Cathryn's Etsy shop as well as from Edgy Polish. Thanks for looking everyone and to all of my US readers, I hope that you had fantastic 4th of July celebrations!

Lush Lacquer Splish Splash with Neon Dots

Hi everyone! So...the favorites thing has TOTALLY taken much longer than I anticipated. I am still diligently working on it and I will get done hopefully some time this month! I have a LOT of blue, green, and purple favorites that needed decent pics, so swatching all of those is a TON of work. Also...I haven't forgotten about the giveaway! I promise! I just have a few things in the works that are taking a little time, but I promise it will be worth the wait! I do have a vacation coming up, so I might not be posting as much at the beginning of July, but I promise I will make up for it in the last half.

And back to our regularly scheduled programming...

So today I have one of the new Lush Lacquers from their neon collection called Splish Splash. This is a blue and green neon glitter in a clear base. The glitters in the Lush Lacquer neons are all a little translucent, so they look best layered over a light base color so that the colors really pop. For this mani, I layered 2 coats of Splish Splash over a white base (Sinful Gel Shine Wisp) and on the accent nails, I have used Finger Paints Inkblot Blue and Silkscreen Green to make the dots.

NOW...Sinful Gel Shine Wisp. This polish is from Sinful's new Gel Shine line so it won't be with all of the regular Sinful polishes at the drugstore. I have seen them in a separate, tower-like display at several Walgreens. All of my white cremes are getting low and I tend to use it a lot in the summer, so I picked this polish up at Walgreens on a whim. I am VERY pleased with it as a white. the formula was excellent and was actually pretty opaque and streak-free at one thick-ish coat. I did 2 coats for good measure. It is also cheap, so hey...pick it up and give it a try. Comment back here and let me know about your experience with it if you decide to get it. I'm curious if it was just a fluke that it worked so well for me.

Lush Lacquer is available from creators' Karin and Lexi's Etsy Store as well as from Llarowe. Thanks for looking everyone!
