Franken: Fantasia

Hi everyone! So...I had a dream of a polish with all colors of holo glitter and thanks to my pal Emma of Nails in the Desert and Love Thy Polish who let me use a pinch or two of hers to fill in the colors I was missing, I was able to make this creation: Fantasia. This is 2 coats of Fantasia over black. I'm in loooooove!! Also, I named it Fantasia because it has all of the colors of the rainbow so it refers to the Pastoral Symphony scene in Fantasia when the rainbow glides across the sky (that was always my favorite part).

Here is an iPhone picture of it in indoor lighting. This shows the colors off even better even though it isn't really in focus. 

So...I think I'm going to make 1 more bottle of this to include in my giveaway that is in the works! What do you guys think? There might be a trio of frankens actually, so hopefully you guys like those (along with other surprise goodies of course!). Thanks for looking everyone!

Franken: Jenny's Sparkle

Hi everyone...and welcome to my new layout! LOL...I was wanting something more bright and colorful for the summer. Today I have a lovely franken for you that was a gift from my pal Ida at Ida Nails It (she is such a sweetheart!). I layered 2 coats of her franken over Jade Pimente Doce (hot red jelly by the way). Isn't it gorgeous?

It just glows from within, right? Thanks for looking everyone!

Franken for Friday: Sunken Treasure

Hi everyone! Today I have a franken that I made a few weeks back and forgot to post. I had the idea for what I wanted it to look like, but I had no name in mind. My pal Nan came up with the name Sunken Treasure, and I think it fits! It is a deep blue jelly base with gold squares, dots, microflakies, and shimmer. This is 2 coats, no undies.

Advent Calendar Challenge Day 12: Family

So who all had one of these growing up? Oh yes...the infamous gumdrop tree. My grandmother always had one of these at her house. When the grandchildren in the family got a little older, she bought a few of these plastic trees and tied one dollar bills all over them and gave them as gifts...MONEY TREES! So yes...money can grow on trees...gumdrop trees!! At least it did in my family. My grandmother always did fun stuff like this  so I have many fond memories of the gumdrop tree. 

So for my mani, I made my nails into gumdrops! The colors I used are as follows:

Red: Cult Nails Evil Queen

Yellow: Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear Mellow Yellow

Purple: American Apparel African Violet

Green: Essie Pretty Edgy

Orange: Essence Get Up!

I think topped them all with Revlon Colorstay Calla Lily and a franken I made with the silver TKB Mermaid pigments and suspension base. It would have looked perfect with Sally Hansen Glass Slipper on top, but I used up all of my bottle making frankens so I had to franken a topcoat!

It's really a very simple form of "candy nails" but it means something to me. Thanks for looking!

Advent Calendar Challenge Day 8: Starry Night

For this mani, I decided to have a little fun with stamping and glitter. The base I used was an Essie Starry Starry Night franken that I made using Essie Silver Boullions + Wet N Wild Nocturnal with a few drops of black. I discovered that I need to tweak it a bit and add some more blue because it ended up looking a little more greyed out than I had hoped for. Then I did some random star stamps using China Glaze Millenium and some star image plates (they were all from Bundle Monster, but I don't remember which sets). Then I used 1 coat of NYX Girls Dreamy Glitter on top for a few more stars. You have to fish for them a little, but they aren't hard to get out of the polish.

Here is the Starry Starry Night franken by itself. As I said...it really needs a little more blue added. 

Maybe it ended up looking a little more cosmic themed than Christmas themed, but I still liked it. Thanks for looking everyone!

Pahlish Train Underwater

So I mentioned in this post that I was going to acquire a bottle of the current version of Pahlish Train Underwater. My old bottle is from the very first batch ever and I do love it...but the new version is AMAZING!!! I can't say enough great things about this beauty...so I'll let the pics do the talking. This is definitely in my top 20 indies (and I have...a lot...)

For these swatches, I layered 1 coat of  Train Underwater over a franken I made called Fairy Godmother. I thought they were made for each other...so that's how I ended up with my final mani!

Happy Halloween!! A Few Halloween Manis...

I decided to share a few Halloweenish manis that I did this year with you. I'm dissappointed with myself because I didn't get into the Halloween spirit as much as I wanted to this year, but I had a ton going on this month unfortunately. But nevertheless...here are some Halloween themed manis as well as some Halloween indies.

The first one is a franken I made called Swamp Music. I layered it over Sally Hansen Hard as Nails Limestone. I thought it looked really swampy and monstery for Halloween.

 

 

 

Next I did a jelly sandwich with Nina Ultra Pro Cobalt and OPI Crown Me Already. To give it a little pizzazz, I used of my my older Halloween Lynnderellas, Bride of Franken.

 

 

 

And if any of you don't own Nina Ultra Pro Cobalt...you should. It is a gorgeous Cobalt Blue jelly. It is everything I wanted Revlon Royal to be. This is 2 coats.

 







 

Up next, I was craving some multichrome goodness so I decided to go with one that flashed orange and purple for Halloween. I used Ozotic 521 (2 coats over black) and stamped on some Halloween images from my Bundle Monster Plates with Finger Paints Black Expressionism. It was definantly not my best work, but it was pretty cute. 



 

 

 

Here is 521 by itself. It was a lovely gift from my pal Kristy.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Finally I have Hit Polish Jack Loves Sally. This polish was one of my favorite Halloween indies from this year (there were SO many amazing ones!). It is a fun and different mix of matte glitters. This is 1 coat over Sally Hansen Fairy Teal.

 

 

 



 

So I guess that wraps up Halloween manis for me! I do still have a few Halloween indies that I *just* got so I will wear them soon for after Halloween fun! Thanks for looking everyone and Happy Halloween!

Some Pinks for Breast Cancer Awareness

So not only are Halloween manis in store this month, but also pink manis in support of Breast Cancer Awareness. I've got three to share with you today.

First is a franken I made called Cosmic Pink. I absolutely loved how this turned out. In real life, the color was very similar to China Glaze Strawberry Fields, just with much more shimmer and teeny disco glitters.

My next mani was inspired by bottle shots of Deborah Lippmann's Raspberry Beret, a new polish that is coming out in a set for the holidays. I want it SO bad but I'm trying to limit by buying now so I tried to recreate it using layering. It ended up being a deep raspberry color with flakies. For this mani, I started off with 2 coats of Illmasqua Stance. Next I added 2 coats of Barielle Elle's Spell. Finally I finished off my flakie sandwich with one thin coat of OPI Houston We Have a Purple.

Finally I have an oldie, but a goodie: China Glaze Don't Be a Square from the Kaleidoscope collection. I was fortunate to find this at a dusty awhile back, but up until now it has been untried! Very pretty pink scattered holo. 

I know pink isn't everyone's favorite color, but I really happen to enjoy wearing it, although I don't reach for it often. And this month, it's for a good cause too! Thanks for looking everyone!
