Scofflaw Just Another Candy Cane Polish with Candy Cane Stripe Accents

Hi everyone! Today I have a mani I've been planning since I bought this Scofflaw back on Black Friday. As soon as I saw the limited edition Just Another Candy Cane Polish (that Scofflaw only made available on Black Friday and in limited quantities at Llarowe), I knew I had to have it and that I would do metallic red stripes over it. I waited for my Mom's family Christmas celebration to do it.

Scofflaw Just Another Candy Cane Polish has a white jelly base with silver holographic glitter, red glitter, white glitter, and silver shimmering flecks throughout. I did 2 coats over OPI Don't Touch My Tutu for this mani, but it would have been fine without the base at 2-3 coats. The formula was excellent and I love the sparkle and shimmer going on. Here are two pics of it before I added the stripes.

 

Next I taped off my nails using striping tape and painted on Butter London Knees Up for the stripes. I used two strips of tape in some places to make wider stripes.

Favorite Neutrals/Nudes

I'm going to be careful here when I say "nudes" because I am not generally a "nude" person. With my skintone, most true nudes do not look right on me, so I generally go for stuff that is more in the pink family. I want to include them here, separate from the pinks, though.

OPI My Very First Knockwurst. This one is actually a really a nudey pink, but it is PERFECT in every way. Holy grail material for me. It matches my skintone and I could not love it more. I didn't think I could love a "nude" until I found this one.

CrowsToes Birthday Suit (over OPI My Very First Knockwurst). I layered this polish basically to hide visible nail line, but it is such a lovely nude shimmer. Very flattering and great as a nude with a twist. 

Essie Vanity Fairest. This polish is so dainty and the shimmer is what makes it stand out to me. My very first "my nails but better" polish. 

OPI Care to Danse? My favorite of the OPI Ballet Collection (followed very closely by Don't Touch My Tutu...to be added to another favorites category later). This one is just perfect for a "my nails but better" look. 

Color Club Magic Attraction (2 coats over Butter London All Hail the Queen). Nude glitter? Well..I call it nude...ish? LOL...overall it reads very neutral but also blingy as all get out. This is one glitter that everyone needs for sure! Check out the blurry picture for the bling factor!

Butter London All Hail the Queen. This is very subtle and neutral. A no fuss, work appropriate mani. 

Color Club Cherubic. Flawless nude holo. And such a strong holo at that!

I know I don't have a lot of favorite nudes, but I think these are really nice! Also a good variety of finishes so I can go for a really safe neutral or one that steals the show. A lot of the other posts I'm putting together are going to be a lot longer so be ready. They are going to take longer to put together but I hope you guys will like them!

Advent Calendar Challenge Day 1: Red (a few of them)

Hi everyone! I actually have a few reds to show you today. I have been wearing them over the past few days and saving them for this post!

First up is Butter London Knees Up. This is a fabulous metallic red. If you don't have it...go get it. It is perfection.

 

 

Then I layered on 1 coat of CrowsToes Holly and Hellfire. This polish has lots of red and silver, with even a few lighter red/pinks thrown in to break it up (and also some holo glitters). It was so sparkly it was giving my camera issues. Haha!

 

 

 

 

 

Next I did a mani with Layla Ceramic Effect #53. These polishes are now available at Ulta so I couldn't resist picking up a few. This is a red/orange/green flakie in a red jelly. It reminds me of a redder (less berry) version of Barielle Elle's Spell. I will say that the flash of the flakies isn't as strong in the Layla, however it could be due to the denser red base color. It would have built up nicely on its own, but I layered one coat over China Glaze Ruby Pumps.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Finally, I have a gorgeous Nicole by OPI from last Christmas called Orna-ment for Each Other. This was a Target exclusive I believe, but I actually found it this summer at TJ Maxx on clearance. It is a fine red glitter with gold mixed in. It is really an underrated polish. It reminds me of a red version of OPI Absolutely Alice. This is 1 coat over Zoya Jade.

Lynnderella Ruby Red Ruby...plus Bride of Franken?

Earlier this week I had an overwhelming desire to wear Lynnderella Ruby Red Ruby, despite it feeling like such a Christmasy polish to me. I actually wore it for Christmas last year so I suppose that is why I think of it that way.

This is 1 coat of Lynnderella Ruby Red Ruby over Butter London Come to Bed Red.

 

 

 

 

So after wearing this for a day...I decided to do some more layering and see what happened. I haven't had much success with layering Lynnderella Bride of Franken over similar base colors, it just seems to blend into the mani while adding a subtle sparkle. But...over a contrasting base it really pops and looks terrific! This is 2 coats of Bride of Franken over the Ruby Red Ruby mani.
