Hi everyone! I'm super excited to show you the KBShimmer Winter 2014 Collection today! This collection consists of 11 new shades and 5 returning fan favorites for the holidays. There are also 4 new cuticle oil scents and new winter themed nail vinyls. Today I have 10 of the new polishes and 2 of the returning favorites to share with you. These polishes will be releasing on November 1 on KBShimmer's website.
These first two I've already reviewed, but I wanted to include them for the sake of completeness (I figure you guys like having everything in one place to reference? I know I do!)
First up, I will show you Spot Sign again, which released earlier this month as a preview to the Winter 2014 Collection and I reviewed it here. This is 1 dabbed coat over KBShimmer You're So Shellfish. This polish, of course, incorporates the super cute leopard spot glitters that have become all the rage in the indie world.
Also, I will show you Pine-ing for Yule again, which is the 2014 Toys For Tots charity polish which I reviewed here. It has a clear base with red holo stars and green holo triangles (trees) and tiny silver and red glitters. This is 1 dabbed coat over a white creme (OPI Angel With a Lead Foot). Be sure to see my other post for full details on the wonderful cause this polish is supporting.
Fallen Angle has a royal blue jelly base filled with matte and holo blue glitters, silver holo glitters, and blue holo triangles. This is a classically great jelly glitter formula from KBShimmer, and it went easily in 3 thin coats. I always love KBShimmer's punny names, and this one just cracked me up. It made me think of all of those Buzzfeed articles making fun of people spelling angel wrong in their Facebook statuses and Tweets.
Flake Dance is a clear based glitter topper filled with silver holo glitters including snowflake glitters. For this mani, I used 1 coat over KBShimmer Stonewashed with glitter placement for the snowflakes. The snowflake glitters are heavier glitters, so they tend to fall off of the brush, so I did fish out a few and place them randomly (you can definitely get more out easily, but I really like just a few sprinkled around). This is a fantastic glitter topper that is super blingy and can jazz up any base color that you choose to layer it over.
Let's Sleigh Together is a pale grey crelly base with a mixture of green, navy, mint, and blueberry glitters in matte and holo finishes. Formula was fantastic and went on in 3 thin coats. This is one of the more understated polishes in the collection and the color combo is really soothing and wonderful. It is one of my surprise favorites!
Deja Brew is a rich brown creamy holo with red undertones. Formula was fantastic and I used 2 coats for this mani. The reddish tones to this polish make it really unique and I feel like it will work well on all skintones. Just a wonderful addition to KBShimmer's holo line.
The next 4 polishes are all additions to KBShimmer's texture line. These are all meant to be worn without topcoat for a cool textured effect. The first three (Dressed to Gild, Too Cold to Hold, and Turnip the Beet) are all holo glitterbombs and the formula is pretty much identical across the board. These are very glitter dense polishes and they work best by applying 1 thinner coat as a base and then 1 thicker coat to get full coverage. You can also add topcoat to these (which I showed as well) to get a super sparkly look, but they are hungry glitters to be prepared to add 2 thick coats of a thicker topcoat to smooth them out. The forth polish (White Here, White Now) is a bit different than these, and I will discuss it in more detail when I get to it.
Dressed to Gild is a gold holo texture polish accented with lavender and lime green glitters. This polish is an absolute stunner with or without topcoat. I could not stop staring at my nails when this was on them.

Too Cold to Hold is a sapphire blue texture polish filled with blue holo glitters and accents of green and fuchsia glitters. This one had a really oceany feel to me and adding topcoat just brought out all of its sparkly depth.

Turnip the Beet is a sangria colored texture polish with fuchsia holo glitters and accent of red and purple glitters. This polish looks like jewels on your nails (well really, they all do!). Such a wonderful sparkling trio of polishes!
(with topcoat)
White Here, White Now is a creamy white texture polish with white matte glitter. I'm going to start off by saying, I do no actually own the China Glaze white texture from last Christmas (There's Snow One Like You) but I've seen pictures of it and it looks like a potentially good idea that went awry. I think that Christy has done the impossible here: she took that idea and made it WORK! Like the other textures in this collection, this works best if you lay down a thinner coat and then use a thicker coat to reach opacity. It looks sort of funny when you first apply it, but once it dries down, I think the textured effect is super cool! Also, I would only recommend to wear this one textured, I do not think topcoating it would give you a good effect. This is such a fun snowy look for winter.
These next two polishes are some of the returning customer favorites. I'm so glad that these were brought back because I didn't get the chance to pick them up when they are available in the past.
Sugar Plum Faerie has a plum jelly base filled with berry, purple, and lime holo glitters. This polish spread smoothly with a great glitter payoff. I used 3 thin coats for this mani. I adore the color combo in this polish and it is so sparkly in real life.
Kringle All the Way is a clear based glitter topper filled with circle glitters in green, red, silver, and gold. Formula was nice on this one with great glitter payoff. For this mani, I used 2 coats over OPI Coca Cola Red. This is just Christmas in a bottle and it will add instant holiday flair to any creme you layer it over. I think it would look fab over white, red, green, black, silver, gold, or even in a jelly sandwich!
I also received 2 of the new cuticle oil scents to review, Raspberry Vanilla and Peppermint (there is also a new Unscented one as well as a Chai Tea scent). Raspberry Vanilla smells just like Black Raspberry Vanilla from Bath and Body Works, which is one of my favorite (and sadly retired) scents. The Peppermint smells like pure, fresh peppermint and it is a very refreshing scent. This is my first experience with KBShimmer's cuticle oil pens, and I absolutely love the design. They have a brush built in and you just click up your desired amount of cuticle oil and brush it on, so it is perfect to stash in your purse. This oil also contains a great mix of oils to nourish your cuticles, including argan and jojoba oil which are my absolute favorite oils to use on my cuticles. The oil absorbs quickly and doesn't leave you with greasy fingers, which is something I also look for in a cuticle oil.
I also received a sheet of their new nail vinyls which have everything from candy canes and peppermints to snowflakes to Christmas lights. I will be using these very soon to create fun manicure for you!
