Hi everyone! Today I have some more nail art, but it is quite a departure from the Halloween manis that are abundant right now (I will have more of those starting tomorrow!). Along with the beautiful polishes and new cuticle oil scents, KBShimmer will be launching some Winter/Holiday themed nail vinyls with their new collection that is releasing on November 1st. I have two fun looks to share with you today that I was so sad to take off, but I figured people would look at me funny if I had Christmas nails for Halloween. :)
These decals come in a full sheet and have snowflakes, candy canes, peppermint swirls, Christmas Trees/Ornaments, Christmas Lights and Ornaments/Candy Canes (here are some better images from KBShimmer on their site so that you can see them clearly).
For this first look, I utilized the Christmas light vinyls. I started off with a white base (OPI Angel With a Lead Foot) and then randomly sponged bright colors over the base: Red (OPI Coca Cola Red), Yellow (OPI I Just Can't Cope-acabana), Blue (KBShimmer Sky Jinks), Pink (KBShimmer Life Rose On), Green (Illamasqua Elope). After that dried completely, I placed the vinyls and used KBShimmer Eclipse on top. When I use nail vinyls, I prefer to sponge on the polish over the vinyls because I find with the motion of pressing down instead of brushing polish over them, I have less likelihood of the vinyls lifting and the polish bleeding up under them. I also tend to have a heavy hand with polish and get too much on my brush, so the sponge helps me keep the layers thin over the vinyls. Just my personal preference...I know most people aren't weird like me and just brush it on.
Next I used the peppermint swirl vinyls as well as the candy canes. Also featured in this mani is the free bonus polish that you will receive if you purchase $70 or more starting November 1st on KBShimmer.com called Holly Back Girl. I will do full swatches of it soon for you, but it is a super cute white crelly with green and red glitters (and a flawless formula). I used Holly Back Girl on my pointer and pinky fingers and then added candy cane vinyls. On my middle and ring fingers, I started off with a white base and then added the peppermint swirl vinyls. Be sure that these are pressed down securely around the edges of your nails before you paint! I sponged on red polish (OPI Coca Cola Red). The really nice thing about these vinyls is that the edges of the vinyls protect your cuticles/skin when you are sponging! Also, be sure that this dries well and "float" your topcoat when you are topcoating your design because reds are notorious for smearing a bit over white (mine did just barely, but you can't even tell at a normal distance).
KBShimmer products are available from their website as well as from Harlow & Co. (Canada) for international customers. Be sure to follow them on Facebook and Instagram for updates on new collections and to see swatches of all of their polishes. The Winter 2014 Collection will be releasing on November 1st.
What do you think of these looks? It is making me excited for Christmas manis already! Thanks for looking everyone!
