First Halloween Mani: Featuring Pretty & Polished Black is the New Orange

*Press Sample*

Hi everyone! I have been holding on to an upcoming Pretty & Polished beauty to wear for my very first Halloween-themed mani of the season! Their Halloween Trio is releasing on October 5th, and I have a beautiful thermal polish to share with you today.

Pretty & Polished Black is the New Orange is a juicy thermal jelly that shifts from orange (warm) to black (cold). The jelly formula built up nicely to opacity (3 light coats still gave some visible nail line, but 4 coats gave the perfect amount of coverage in my opinion). I must say, I was so impressed with how this stayed in the "transitioning" state on me. Often, thermals just stay "warm" on me because I live in a warm climate, my body temp runs pretty warm, and I don't have super long nails. I would say that most of the time, Black is the New Orange stayed transitioned perfectly transitioned with black tips and orange nail beds on me and I was thrilled about that! This polish is so classic Halloween that it will be a sure winner for everyone!

Warm

Transitioning

Cold (It did not want to stay in the completely "cold" state for very long at ALL so sorry for the wet fingers. It went to it's "transitioning" state very rapidly.)

I was at Wal-Mart a few weeks back, and I saw these cute little Halloween stickers. I thought, what the heck, they are cheap and cute! Unfortunately, they ended up being a huge disappointment. For my mani, I stamped on some spiderwebs using Mundo de Unas White and Bundle Monster Plate BM 13. Then I placed some of the spider stickers randomly about on the webs.

These had a clear backing, so you could clearly see the webs when you placed them (sort of like water decals) so they looked nice when they were placed. The problem was, the material that they were made of was too stiff so they did not adhere well to the nail and kept coming up around the edges when I was applying them. I put on 2 coats of topcoat and they looked OK, but still a little weird aroud the edges with lifting.

I was content with the mani, though not super thrilled with it. Fast forward to this morning when I took a shower, THEY ALL CAME OFF AND RUINED MY MANI! They all started lifting (through 2 COATS of topcoat) and peeled off. I had to go to work with my nails looking a hot mess. So...as much as I wanted to love you cute stickers from Wal-Mart, I cannot give you a good review....because you ruined my perfectly cute mani. :(

The important thing is...regardless of the nail art fail, Pretty & Polished Black is the New Orange is so awesome for Halloween...and you need it! #takeawaypoint
