Rainbow Honey 20% Cooler

I was very excited to receive my Rainbow Honey pre-order for the Equestria collection today. I will have to say, I am totally in love with their labels and packaging, as well as their polishes. They really put a lot of time, effort, and resources into branding their products, and I am very impressed. Also the pre-order system that they did for the new collection was a stellar option for those of us who didn't want to stalk shop restocks and didn't mind waiting a bit for their polishes to arrive.

I decided to try out 20% Cooler first. It is a multicolored glitter in a sheer blue shimmery base. I layered it over Orly Snowcone for this mani. The application was really smooth and I used 1 coat of Gelous + 1 coat of CND Air Dry on top to make the mani super smooth.

Rainbow Honey is launching their new website tonight in a few hours. If you want to order this or other polishes from the Equestria collection (their other collections won't be available right now, but will be added later), be sure to check it out!

piCture pOlish Mask-a-Rade

Today I have for you a gorgeous polish with color-shifting glitters! piCture pOlish Mask-a-Rade is a combination of color shifting glitters (it is pretty much like all of the Ozotic Elytras mixed into 1 bottle). Layered over black, it makes your nails look like outer space!

Here is 1 coat of Mask-a-Rade over a-England Bridal Veil

You can purchase piCture pOlish direct from their website, or stateside from Llarowe. Be sure to pick this one up soon if you want it because it is a limited edition shade.

Baker Street Holoed

Today I have paired two of my favorite polishes together. I'm sure you all know (or have heard) that Nails Inc Baker Street is the creme de la creme of blue cremes! It is so rich and vibrant and bright and PERFECT! I decided to kick it up a notch with some holo.

This is 1 coat of OPI DS Shimmer over 2 coats Nails Inc Baker Street

I wouldn't have thought that Baker Street could get any better, but indeed it CAN! As always, thanks for looking everyone!

Crowstoes Nail Color Thing

Today I have an AMAZING glittery polish for you. If you are looking for a blingy, party on your nails polish, look no further than Crowstoes' Thing. It is a part of her Addam's family trio, which also includes polishes named Morticia and Gomez.

Thing has an abundance of gold and coppery hex and square glitters with multicolored large and small glitters mixed in. Here I layered it over Orly Out of This World, a deep shimmery purple.

This is 1 coat over 2 coats of Orly Out of This World. I used 2 coats of Gelous and 1 coat of CND Air Dry for topcoat to get it glassy smooth.

Lauri, creator of Crowstoes Nail Color, has exciting news today too...these polishes will now be sold at Overall Beauty as well as at Lauri's Big Cartel Store here. Lauri posts updates on her blog about new polishes and availability so stay tuned there for new and exciting news from Crowstoes Nail Color!

Huge Lemming Slayed: OPI La Boheme

After lusting after this polish for ages, I finally found it on ebay for a reasonable price and jumped on it...and then prayed for it to be legit and arrive in one piece. Thank goodness it arrived in perfect condition and is just gorgeous. It has my absolute favorite kind of shimmer, and the subtle duochromy effect makes it glowy and fabulous. I am so excited that I splurged a little on this one!

This is 2 coats over Finger Paints Black Expressionism

Thanks for looking!

Cult Nails Fairy Tale Collection Swatches

Hello all! So...I am a total Cult Nails fangirl and when they came out with the Fairy Tale collection, I couldn't resist ordering all of them. Yesterday I received my pre-order in the mail and I had to do some quick swatches. So without further ado...here they are!

First up is Feelin' Froggy. I love the shimmer in this one. The formuls is a little thin, but not runny. It is also very buildable. This is 3 coats.

Next is Charming. It has about the same formula as Feelin' Froggy with a lovely shimmer. I used 3 coats with it as well.

Next is Princess. The formula on this one is more opaque than the previous two (I used 2 coats in my swatches). I thought this would be my least favorite, but I quite like it. The shimmer is lovely, especially in the sunlight.

I compared it to Sinful Colors Cinderella, since I have heard many people wondering if they were similar. They are very different in my opinion. Cinderella is lighter with more in-your-face shimmer. The formula on Cinderella is also thin and watery in comparison to Princess. Also, on a personal note, I prefer the shade of blue of Princess with my skintone.

Now for my favorite from this collection, Evil Queen. The formula on this on was impeccable and the shade of red divine. It is my new favorite red creme. I had heard others say that this was their favorite in the collection as well and I didn't believe it...until I tried it for myself. It is just perfect. If you are a red lover, this one is a must have. This is 2 coats.

Last up is Happy Ending. Here I layered 1 coat over Evil Queen. This is a really fun and festive polish. And the rumors are true about this one, it is pretty much an exact dupe of Icing After Party, so you don't need both if you happen to have the Icing polish in your collection already.

Overall, I really love this collection. As usual, the Cult Nails formula is excellent and the colors/finishes very nice. I love the theme of this collection as well, just fun and whimiscal. The polishes from this collection are now available individually for purchase on the Cult Nails website.

Hits Mari Moon Swatches

So today I have a few swatches from the Hits Mari Moon collection. This is a lovely collection of multichromatic polishes from Brazil.

First up is Cool. It is a green/gold/blue multichrome. This is 2 coats. I found it to have a more metallic finish than the others and therefore more prone to brushstrokes. With careful application, it looked really nice.

Next up is Cutie Pie. This one is a beauty. The only pictures I have of it are older. It flashes from purple, to blue, to turquoise, to even gold at extreme angles. It was super hard to photograph the turquoise shift in this one, but it is very apparent in real life. It is dupey to the long discontinued (and highly sought after) Turquoise Opal from the Sally Hansen Nail Prisms line as well as the recently discontinued Ozotic 505 and its Chemistry/Artform counterparts. This is one coat over black.

Last, but not least, is Unconventional. This one is a real stunner, and my favorite one that I have tried so far. It flashes from a gorgeous deep purple to a burgundy and even to a glowing red in the sun. This is 2 coats over black (but I could have just used 1 coat).

Overall, these polishes are really lovely, I just abhor their brushes which you have to use carefully to avoid bubbling (or that has been my experience, at least) and hate that their bottles are so tiny (6 ml). The end result is worth it though! There are quite a few of them that are dupes for hard to find polishes, so that is another great thing about this collection. Here is an excellent list of multichrome dupes that my friend Theomanic has compiled for you to reference if you have any serious multichrome lemmings or if you want to avoid dupes in your collection.

I purchased these from Llarowe and they appear out of stock at the moment, but she is constantly getting new inventory in from Brazil from the Hits line, so keep checking back if you are interested in them!

Holo-ed Bliss

So today I have something insane to share with you. I saw a franken that someone made recently that involved red-green color morphing pigment (a la Clarins 230, MF Fantasy Fire, et al) plus they added Spectraflair. It was INSANE! I decided I must try this out with layering and see what would happen!

So first up, I want to show you a little present from my dear friend Moxie over at Pied Polish Piper. It is called Bliss Piss...which is pretty much the best name EVER! I love it!!

Here is one coat of Bliss Piss over 2 coats of Revlon Royal. It is so gorgeous!

Then I put one coat of my love, OPI DS Shimmer, over the whole thing. It is just...crazy!

Too many pics you say? Nah...no such thing! I wanted to get some sun pics for you guys, but unfortunately it has decided to rain here are weekend. Here is a consolation flash shot.

Thanks for looking everyone!

Layer Duping!

One of my favorite things to do with polish is to try to "layer dupe" pricey or hard-to-find polishes to satisfy my lemmings. I have an arsenal of terrific topcoats that help me do this. Some of the best ones in my collection are from the CND Effects line. I have several of the shimmers and sparkles from this line and they work like magic to spice up any mani that just needs a little something extra. With the next two manis, I utilized them to help me "layer dupe" some limited edition Rescue Beauty Lounge Polishes. I feel that these tries weren't actual dupes, but more inspired by them. I think that these manis have a lot more visible shimmer than the RBL ones, so I actually prefer them to the originals.

This first mani was inspired by RBL Aqua Lily. I started off with a base of OPI Fly and added 1 coat of CND Effects Violet Shimmer.

OPI Fly by itself (2 coats)

With 1 coat of CND Violet Shimmer

The next mani was inspired by RBL Halcyon. Here I used 2 coats of Essie Sew Psyched as a base and then added 1 coat of CND Effects Raspberry Sparkle.

The last mani I am going to show you is my attempt to dupe a much sought after polish for me: Magnetic Freakin' Violet. This polish has such amazing depth, so trying to mimic it involved several polishes. A standout here is Pure Ice Heart Breaker, which I ADORE and layer it over so many things. Also Verity Deep Violet, which is the perfect purple jelly. If you guys don't have either of these in your collection, they are must haves! This mani was a little more involved than the previous two. Here was the layering order:

2 coats Verity Deep Violet, 1 coat Finger Paints Flecked, 1 coat Nails Inc The Old Vic, 1 coat Verity Deep Violet, 1 coat Pure Ice Heart Breaker

Hope you guys enjoyed this! Do you ever try to "layer dupe" things? Any great success stories?
