St. Patrick's Day Mani

Hi everyone! Today I have my St. Patrick's Day Mani to share with you all. I went pretty simple, but I really loved this design. I started off with a base of China Glaze Four Leaf Clover, which photographs extremely inaccurately...but it is a very bright, almost neon green in real life. Next I used Bundle Monster plate H04 and Konad Special White Polish for the shamrock design. Finally I topped the whole thing with 2 coats of INM Northern Lights Hologram Top Coat "Gold".

NYC Top of the Gold Topcoat

Hi everyone! Today I have a drugstore beauty for you from NYC. NYC's Top of the Gold topcoat consists of gold flakies in a clear base. These flakies are very sparkly but do not have any sort of color shift like traditional flakies. Amanda from Pretty Girl Science did a comparison, and Top of the Gold is pretty much an exact dupe of Maria Luisa from Zoya's Fall collection. The formula was great and the flakes spread very evenly. I used 2 thin coats of Top of the Gold over OPI Memaid Tears for this mani.

Then I added some matte topcoat to the mani because I loved the way it looked in Amanda's post. I really liked it this way. It reminded me of some sort of tumbled stone. Such a cool mani!

I have seen NYC's Top of the Gold topcoat on current displays in a few drugstores, but I bought mine at Rite Aid. Thanks for looking everyone!

Elevation Polish Wuyi Mountain

Hi everyone! Today I have another Elevation Polish to share with you, this one a Llarowe exclusive. Wuyi Mountain is a medium green crelly with blue and green shimmer. The formula was great and covered well with 2 coats. For some reason, I was afraid this was going to be frosty, but it wasn't AT ALL. The shimmer was was very glowy and nice. It's one of those polishes that is even better in person.

Elevation Polish Aguja St Exupery

Hi everyone! Today I have a polish to share with you that you NEED! When Elevation Polish released the Patagonia Collection, I saw Aguja St Exupery and though, yeah...cool...another holo topcoat. After seeing some swatches I got a little more interested in it and I finally gave in and ordered it. After it arrived, I looked at it in the bottle and though it was nice but set it aside. A few nights ago, I got the hankering to wear something clean and simple, so I put on OPI Skull & Glossbones. Then (as I always do) I wanted to jazz it up a bit and Aguja St Exupery came to mind. OMGGGGGGGG!!! This topcoat is truly something special.

Aguja St Exupery is a holographic topcoat filled with flecks of pink, charcoal, and gold flake shimmer. When layered over a lighter color (like my mani here with Skull & Glossbones) the different colored shimmery flakes really stand out. Formula was great and I used 1 coat over my base color for this mani. I haven't done it yet, but I've seen pictures of it over darker base colors and it looks really nice like that as well but the shimmer can get a bit drowned out by a dark base color. I can't emphasize how magical this topcoat is and it is even better in person.

piCture pOlish Super Styling

Hi everyone! Today I have a pretty blue polish from piCture pOlish to share with you. Super Styling is a medium blue jelly base filled with silver glitter. It is a very simple polish, so I wasn't expecting to be wowed by it. I have actually be hemming and hawing about ordering it for ages just for that reason, but something kept pushing me to do it. I guess sparkly simplicity is just the ticket sometimes because I really enjoyed wearing this. The formula was a great consistency (not to thick or thin) and it had good coverage. It would have been fine at 2 coats, but I did 3 thin coats just for added depth. If you like sparkly blues, then you can't go wrong with Super Styling.

I wanted to see how it compared to some other blue jelly + glitter polishes in my stash, so here is a quick comparison.

L-R: piCture pOlish Super Styling, China Glaze Dorothy Who?, Pretty Serious BSOD, China Glaze Skyscraper

As you can see, Super Styling is closest to China Glaze Dorothy Who? but it is a bit lighter and brighter of a blue. Pretty Serious BSOD has a deeper blue base and blue glitters instead of silver and China Glaze Skyscraper has silver glitter, but it more indigo in comparison to the other blues.

Dance Legend Strutter

Hi everyone! I have a beauty for you today that I've been waiting on for 2 months! My Dance Legend order finally arrived from Russia on Saturday, and Strutter was first on my list to wear. Dance Legend Strutter is an emerald green jelly with scattered holo shards from Dance Legend's Wow Prisms line (similar to the L.A.Girl Holos and piCture pOlish scattered holos). Formula was impeccable with only 2 easy coats needed (it was pretty much opaque in 1 coat though). I did note a tiny bit of staining at my cuticles during removal, but none on the nail plate. That minor issue is completely overshadowed by the gorgeousness that is this polish.

Dance Legend polishes originate from Russia and you can order direct from their website (shipping took 2 months to get to me in the US from Russia, and I've heard that is about average). They are also available from Llarowe and Ninja Polish. Thanks for looking everyone!

Smitten Polish Spring 2014

Hi everyone! Today I have a preview of Smitten Polish's Spring Collection for you. I think this is just part one because I did see it mentioned on Smitten's Facebook page that there would be a part two with 4 more polishes released in April in addition to these. This collection has two holos (one jelly based and one creamy) and two jellies with holo microglitter. I think they are fabulous, but just look at them for yourself.

Not Your Mama's Easter Grass is a vibrant lime green jelly filled with lime green holographic microglitter. I used 3 coats for full coverage (though with careful application, it would be ok at 2 coats). This polish is INSANE in person! It is so amazingly sparkly! I love jelly glitters like this so much, and this one has rocketed up to one of my favorites!

  

Ker-Bloom is a medium periwinkle blue linear holo. This one had a jelly finish, so I used 3 coats for full coverage. It has the slightest hint of purple to it, but it definitely looks blue! I love shades like this, and this one is no exception.

 

Audrey's Rainbow is a creamy Tiffany Blue linear holo. It has a fantastic flame for a creamy holo. The formula is very nice and fully opaque at 2 coats (be sure to let it dry between coats to prevent dragging). The name is, of course, inspired by Audrey Hepburn and her role in Breakfast at Tiffany's (with Tiffany's being where this iconic shade of blue was born.) So pretty and perfect for spring.

 

Glacial Springs is a teal jelly filled with teal microglitter. It wants to photograph more blue, but it is definitely a teal (the bottom photo is the most color accurate). Formula was fabulous and would really be fine at 2 coats, but I used 3 coats for a little more depth in my photos.
