Hi everyone! I'm definitely running behind this time, but I have KBShimmer's Winter 2015 Collection to share with you today! This gorgeous mix of holos, cremes, shimmers, and, of course, glitters is full of festive fun for the holidays. There are 14 new shades in total, and I have 13 of them to share with you today. There is one more creme in this collection that I will be sharing next week along with some decals that coordinate perfectly with it. This collection releases today (11/2) along with 12 brand new winter-themed water decals (I have some of those to share over the next few weeks), cat nail vinyls, new lotion bottles that are handy for travel, and some wintry scented mani shots.
Fleece Navidad is a soft pale grey holo with blue microflakes. Formula was quite nice to work with and I used 3 coats for full coverage, making sure to let the coats dry in between to avoid streaking. The shimmer in this holo is absolutely stunning and gives it a wintry feel. It's gorgeous when it catches the light.
Smoke Signal is a light grey crelly with orange, red, and aqua holographic glitters. This one started out sheer, but built up nicely to opacity in 3 coats and KBShimmer Clearly On Top smoothed it out to a glassy finish. This is pretty and unexpected mix of warm and cool colors that ends up being quite cozy for the winter.
Owl Miss You is a soft beige/tan filled with golden metallic flakes and copper metallic shimmering flakes, and scattered silver flakes. Formula was very nice to work with and I got full opacity in 3 thin coats. This has to be one of my favorites of the collection! It's sort of a unique finish for KBShimmer and can I say, I would love to see more like it! The delicate combination of flakes works perfectly in the creamy nude base and it really gives off that neutral with a twist vibe. A very cool twist!
Yule Worthy is a warm burgundy-leaning chocolate brown polish with metallic microflakes and scattered holo microglitter. Formula was absolutely lovely to work with and quite opaque, so I got great coverage in 2 coats. I love the use of those famous metallic flakes here, it really creates a beautiful finish! The scattered bits of holo really add a lot of interest to this one and give it dimension.
How Corn-y is a creamy yellowy-orange base filled with burgundy, gold, red, and orange glitters. Formula was great to work with and I used 3 coats for full coverage and KBShimmer Clearly On Top for a glassy smooth finish. This is one of those unique color combos that I feel you are either going to love or hate, but I think it works just perfectly. The inspiration behind it was Indian Corn, and I think that it was captured so well in this polish. I was a bit afraid of how the orangey-yellow base was going to look on my skintone, but I thought it ended up being pretty flattering and almost had a funky neutral vibe (I think because it was so buttery looking). The macros wanted to make this look a little washed out, but I think the full pics show it more accurately.
Kind of a Big Dill is a forest green jelly filled with silver holo glitter/microglitter. Formula was squishy and fabulous and I used 3 thin coats for full coverage. I have sat around and thought (as one does...don't lie...you've done it) "If I was ever to help create a KBShimmer polish, what would it be?" Well Christy pretty much nailed it with this polish so it was like she was looking into my brain. I really wanted a green version of Carpe Denim/Raisin to Live for the holidays and that is just what we have here. It has so much lovely depth and sparkle...gah, it's perfect for Christmas!
sELFie is a holographic glitter topper filled with a red, greens, and silver. This is a pretty dense glitter, so when using it as a topper I made sure to wipe off the brush pretty well so I didn't overload it. For this mani I used 1 coat over Kind of a Big Dill because I thought that created the perfect Christmas tree look. You can also build this one up to opacity on its own in 3 coats a wear it textured or with a generous amount of topcoat for really blingy Christmas nails.
Oh Holo Night is a clear-based glitter topper filld with silver and blue holo glitters including mini silver and blue stars. For this mani, I used 2 coats over KBShimmer Low and Be Bold. I recommend a good shake before applying this one because the larger glitters tended to settle a bit and after shaking it I didn't have to do any fishing for the stars at all. I used 2 coats of KBShimmer Clearly On Top to get this one glassy smooth. Can I just say how much I adore the mini stars?! You get the same fun effect as regular sized star glitters but I don't have to worry about placing them in specific places on my nail to make them lay flat. I know some of you out there can feel my pain on this one!
Claws and Effect is a purple-leaning navy holu filled with blue shimmer. Formula was super nice to work with and I got full coverage in 2 easy coats. Like Fleece Navidad, the shimmer in this holo makes it really special and adds a ton of sparkly depth. This shimmer even shifts to violet at some angles.
Brrr-tiful Dreamer is a purple-leaning smoky grey crelly filled with blue, purple, silver, and fuchsia glitters. Formula was easy to work with and I got full coverage in 3 thin coats. I used 1 coat of KBShimmer Clearly On Top for my swatches, but I think I would have used 2 coats to get it completely smooth if I was to do it over again. This one reads a bit more purple in real life, but my camera was trying to pull it completely grey for some reason (it's a little closer to real life in the macro shots). I think it has a very soothing wintry color palette.
Coal In One is a medium grey linear holo. Formula was divine on this one and I got full coverage in 2 easy coats. Holo holo Batman! The holo is insanely gorgeous in this one and it almost makes it look like it has a slight golden cast to it. A fantastic addition to KBShimmer's holo line!
Chilly Pepper is a Christmas red creme/crelly. I thought this one had a slightly squishy feel to it, so I'm calling it a crelly. It had a wonderful formula and I got full coverage in 2 coats. This is a red hot classic red (that I know a lot of you have been dying for a true red KBShimmer creme). I feel like this a great neutral red that will look nice on everyone!
Toying Around is a clear-based glitter topper filled with a rainbow of glitters in different shapes and sizes. There are a nice mix of pastels with more bold pinks, reds, and yellows as well as black, white, and silver glitter and a smattering of holo sparkle. For this mani, I paired it with Chilly Pepper, and I used 1 generous dabbed coat with some slight glitter placement with a few of the larger glitters. I had no issues getting glitters out for this baby, no fishing necessary! I definitely recommend 2 coats of KBShimmer Clearly On Top to smooth out the chunky glitters. This is a 2015 Toys for Tots Charity Polish, and $4 from each bottle sold will be donated to Toys for Tots. This is such a fun polish and it would look fantastic over pretty much any base you could come up with!
