Darling Diva Polish Pageant Collection Swatch and Review

*Press Samples*

Hi everyone! Today I have the amazing Pageant Collection from Darling Diva Polish that was inspired by one of my favorite "dumb comedies" ever. "Drop Dead Gorgeous" is a comedy from the late '90s that I remember as being one of the first "mockumentary" type films I ever saw. This has turned into one of of my favorite forms of movie and TV comedy today (like The Office, Parks and Recreation, and Modern Family). It is set up to be a "behind-the-scenes" look at a beauty pageant in a small town in Minnesota, but then things start to take some pretty crazy and terrible turns along the way. Pretty much...you get to see the worst incarnation of a "pageant mom" ever. So many people have never seen this movie (it's definitely not Oscar-worthy stuff!), but if you have, you will totally get all of the crazy references of the names of this collection. Some of them are more than a bit crass (and I'm going to censor some of them a bit for the blog) but they are totally "Drop Dead Gorgeous". So if you are easily offended...YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED! Just look at the pretty polishes. :D If you haven't seen it, no worries...I have gifs and pictures for you (please indulge me a bit, I had a lot of fun with this post!)

Edited to add: I really want to add this in here, and I will mention it again in a future post soon. I used Darling Diva Polish's Pryzmatic Performance Enhancing Topcoat for all of my swatches and that stuff is amazing! It is just thick enough to smooth out glitters, it doesn't bubble, it gives your mani a super shine, and it dries pretty quickly. I need a vat of it now...

Jesus Loves Winners! is a bright green linear holo with green holo microglitter. This color of green is so vibrant and gorgeous, and the darker green microglitters add a ton of depth. Formula spread smoothly and easily and I used  2 coats for this mani. I'm always a sucker for greens, and this one is no exception. This was a bit of terrible "sage" wisdom that was given to one of the pageant contestants.

Take Down the *%# Freda Sign (aka Amber) is a medium bright blue linear holo with added blue holo microglitter. This polish is so sparkly! Formula was very nice and I used 3 thin coats here. The glitters really come alive in this polish and it is one of my favorites!

She Had a Fat @$$ Then, She Has a Fat @$$ Now! is a corally pink linear holo with added golden microglitter. The glitter in this one wasn't as apparent as some of the others, but really just provides some extra depth to the holo sparkle. I used 3 thin coats for this mani. Such a gorgeous color that I think would flatter any skintone. This is just one of the polishes inspired by Loretta's sassy mouth.

Beautiful as a Whore's @$$ (aka Becky) is a shimmery deep purple linear holo with added golden microglitter. This one almost looks as though it has a pink flash to it in some lights. The depth of this polish really didn't want to translate into pictures, but it is a stunner in real life. Formula was great and I use 3 thin coats here.

LSGC (inspired by the Lutheran Sisterhood Gun Club) is a silvery grey linear holo filled with blue and green sparkles. Again, great formula (I feel like I keep repeating myself, but all of the formulas in this collection were so nice!) and I used 3 thin coats for this mani. This polish is one of my absolute favorites because it is so unique! The blue/green sparkles are just over the top in this polish.

I Got Some! is a light golden yellow linear holo with added golden microglitter. The added glitters weren't as obvious in this polish as some of the others, but just added some additional depth. Formula was fantastic on this one and reached opacity in 3 thin coats. I loved this one so much I wore it for two days before I could convince myself to take it off to do some swatching. It's super flattering for a yellow/gold.

Are We On Cops? is a black linear holo with added red microglitter.  Formula was smooth and easy and I used 3 thin coats for this mani. The red glitters really pop against the black base (even more in real life). The name of this one is one of my particular favorites because it is for Hank, who is one of the funniest characters in the movie, and it was one of his most memorable lines (to me).

As Fake as My O's is a magenta linear holo with added pink microglitter. The formula on this one was very nice and it spread easily. Opacity was very good and I used 2 coats for this mani. There is a ton of sparkling depth in this polish that really makes it come alive on the nails.

Choking on Swan Gas is an off-white crelly filled with golden microglitter and blue sparkles. This one is really gorgeous on its own and it is also perfect for creating "jelly sandwiches" with glitters. Formula was great and non-streaky (which is great for a white jelly polish), and it builds up really nicely. I used 3 thin coats for this mani. I really, really love this polish. It looks so elegant on its own and it's also versatile for layering. This was inspired by the bizarre giant swan float the that winner wanted to ride in the queen's parade. Unfortunately...things just didn't go her way...

Ameri I Can! is a glitter topper with red, white, blue, and gold glitter (including stars). I used 2 coats over Choking on Swan Gas. The spreading consistency and glitter load of this polish was just perfect! I found that the stars came out quite easily as well. It's a very fun patriotic-themed glitter for the USA! This is from a hilarious part of the movie where pageant themes are explored...you could probably do an entire USA-themed collection with perfect names just from this part of the movie.

Here it is with 1 coat of Choking on Swan Gas layered over the top so you can see the jelly sandwich effect that you can get with it.

Hank! (LE) is a holographic base filled with metallic silver flakies. I can see myself using this over EVERYTHING! For this mani, I layered 1 coat of Hank over a pale mint green creme (OPI Feel the Mo-heat-oes Green). Formula was perfect and spread smoothly and easily (it is meant to be a layering polish, so it is sheer of course). One of my absolute favorites from the collection!
