Deborah Lippmann Sweet Dreams over Illamasqua Collide

Hi everyone! I guess it is the weather finally turning warm here (since it has actually been a pleasant spring here in Alabama without the usual hot as hades temps), but I'm craving bright colors. And one of my favorite brights to wear would have to be hot pink. I decided to dust off my favorite Deborah Lippmann polish, Sweet Dreams, and layer if over the neon pink Illamasqua Collide for extra brightness. Now Sweet Dreams can definitely be worn on its own and built up to opacity (I've done it in the past) but the flakie formula is not the best I've ever encountered so layering it over Collide made it much easier to handle. And boy is it pretty.

Scofflaw Nail Varnish David Bowie's Bulge

Hi everyone! I have another Scofflaw Nail Varnish for you today, this one inspired by David Bowie. The coral and teal colors are inspired by Bowie's makeup on the album cover for his Aladdin Sane album, seen below. And the name...well...if you've ever seen Labyrinth...you know what it means. ;)

David Bowie's Bulge has a creamy coral base (perhaps a touch pinker than my pictures show) with matte and holographic teal glitters as well as dark red and bronze glitters. There is also a subtle shimmer throughout the polish. The formula spreads easily with good glitter distribution. It is pretty opaque, so this mani was good at 2 coats. I will have to say, I almost didn't buy this one but I'm certainly glad that I did...it might be my favorite Scofflaw so far!

Pretty Serious Daphne's Birthday Party

Hi everyone! Today is a very special day for Pretty Serious Cosmetics as they turn 1 today! Creator Kaz created a very special polish to commemorate the first birthday of Pretty Serious and their mascot Daphne called Daphne's Birthday Party. It is a multicolored mix of glitters in a clear base. I chose to do a jelly sandwich with it with one of the new L'Oreal jellies called Lilac Coolers. I did a thin, dabbed coat of Daphne's Birthday party sandwiched with the L'Oreal. The glitter is very dense and would probably be opaque in 2-3 coats, so I had to wipe the brush off a bit on the bottle and do a little dabbing to get the sparser look I was going for for the sandwich.

Oopsie Daisies Friends and Fans Collection Swatches

Hi everyone! Today I have a fantastic new collection for you from Oopsie Daisies that was named/and or inspired by friends and fans of Oopsie Daisies' polishes. I think creator Cathryn had a lot of fun getting everyone involved with the creation of this collection and now everyone gets to enjoy the wonderful polishes that resulted.

Blueberry Muffins. This polish has a white jelly base with a mixture of navy, periwinkle, brown, and caramel glitter. This was a polish I wasn't sure about when I first saw it, but I ADORE IT! The mix of glitters works so well and the overall effect is so reminiscent of muffin batter. I chose to layer 2 coats over OPI Don't Touch My Tutu for my mani. Cathryn collaborated with a friend to make this polish come to life.

Springtime Spumoni. This polish has a white jelly base with white, mint green, baby blue, yellow, and pink 

glitter, as well as small green glitter. This polish was named by a fan of Oopsie Daisies and I think it fits this polish perfectly. Again I layered 2 coats over OPI Don't Touch My Tutu. 

Scrunchies and Slumber Parties. This polish has a creamy purple base with silver, orange, neon pink, and blue iridescent glitter in it with a touch of shimmer added. This polish was pretty opaque so I use 2 coats, no undies. This polish was a collaboration with Cathryn's sister and represents wonderful childhood memories that they shared. 

Strawberry Tall Cake. This polish has a creamy white base with red, orange, and yellow matte glitters. It is very fun and summery! I used 2 coats over OPI Don't Touch My Tutu for my mani, but the base is more opaque than the other milky glitters in the collection so the base wasn't necessary. This was the very first polish that was named by a fan of Oopsie Daisies. 

Fairy Tale Wishes. This polish has a clear base full of various shades of purple matte glitter and matte purple stars. It also has a beautiful sparkling shimmer throughout. It is meant to be a layering polish, so I chose to layer 2 coats over Barry M Blueberry Ice Cream (I love purple and blue together!). I didn't have to dig for glitters at all, but I did do a little bit of placement with the stars to get them how I wanted them. This polish was also named by a fan of Oopsie Daisies. 

All of the formulas were nice with great glitter coverage. I think it is so fun to have a collection that friends and fans are involved with! The Oopsie Daisies Friends and Fans Collection is now available in creator Cathryn's Etsy Shop and she also now has her polishes available at Edgy Polish in Sweden! Thanks for looking everyone!!

Shimmer Polish: Spirit (Custom) and Kim

Hi everyone! I recently commissioned a custom Shimmer Polish to match my high school's colors: purple and gold. I named it Spirit...and I think it is fantastic! It is a mixture fine purple, gold, and gold holographic glitters. So if you have a color combo in mind that you would like to see in a glitter polish, then Shimmer Polish has got you covered! I could not be more pleased with my custom. I did 1 coat over Verity Deep Violet for my mani. Here are lots of pictures of my custom.

I also have Shimmer Kim for you today. This polish is a mixture of purple, blue and silver holographic glitters. Another lovely polish with an excellent formula. This is 1 coat over China Glaze Ride the Waves.

CrowsToes Season of the Witch, Birthday Suit, and Tequila Sunrise

Hi all! I have the last of the polishes from the CrowsToes springTHIS collection for you today. I have really enjoyed wearing each and every one of these beautiful polishes!

Season of the Witch. This polish has a black jelly base with colorshifting microflakies that shift from green to purple. This polish gets opaque on its own, so no need to layer! This is 3 coats.

Birthday Suit. This polish is a nude shimmering base with amazing color shifting shimmer that shifts from pink -bronze- gold. Everyone who saw this polish thought it was so wonderful and versatile. Everyone needs a good nude polish...and why not have one with a fun twist? I decided to layer 2 coats over OPI My Very First Knockwurst, mainly to hide the nail line. I was a wee bit concerned about what it would look like with my skin tone (I tended to think it would look better on warmer toned girls) but I was pleasantly surprised at how flattering it was!

Tequila Sunrise. This is a pink jelly base with a duochrome shimmer that goes from pink-green-gold. I chose to layer this one also, and I layered over a coordinating pink jelly, OPI Too Hot Pink to Hold Em. This polish is similar to Lil' Miss Cyanide in that the duochrome is more apparent in real life. This polish does have the tendency to show brushstrokes if you aren't careful with application, so keep that in mind when wearing it.
